Submissions deadline: September 12 (contest opens July 2)

GENERAL GUIDELINES

We accept submissions between July 2 and September 12. We do not read submissions outside deadlines.

All submissions should a brief cover letter that includes contact information (name, detailed address, phone number, email e.tc)

*Please note:

• Africa Voices purchases ownership rights upon submission of manuscripts.
• All manuscripts must be previously unpublished, send only original work, if your work quotes or borrows from other work that source should receive credit.
• Note that submission does not guarantee acceptance.

CATEGORY GUIDELINES

Fiction/Creative non-fiction

• Manuscripts should be typed and double spaced. Please use 1” margins and include page numbers.
• Manuscripts should be no more than 3000 words. Sections from longer works okay.
• Send only one manuscript file per entry.
• Reading fee for this category is $21 (non refundable).

Poetry

• A maximum of three (3) poems may be submitted.
• Poems must be in typescript and must be previously unpublished in any form.
• Reading fee for this category if submissions is $18

 

All entries will be read blind. Information that identifies the author SHOULD NOT appear on the manuscript itself. All contest submissions will be considered for inclusion in the anthology even if they do not win the $500 prize. Submissions are read and evaluated by our in-house editorial staff. SUBMISSION DOES NOT GUARANTEEE ACCEPTANCE manuscripts making the final cut are decided on by an editorial vote and forwarded to independent judges for possible award of $500 prize.

ELIGIBILITY

Contest is open to all individuals aged 13+ from any country in the world (Residents of Quebec are not allowed to enter the contest).
